Wednesday weigh-in

I'm down a pound (Hurray!) Now I am back down to where I started from. I had gained two pounds right off the bat with this challenge (sigh!), so hopefully now the momentum is going the other way.

You said it -- even when we lack motivation to exercise, the key is just doing it anyway. It's best, of course, if it's a habit.

I used to get up at least an hour before everyone else in the house and go for a brisk, 2-mile walk, regardless of the weather. (and living in Manitoba, there's definitely extremes!!) But my husband's been middle-distance trucking again for the last few months and since I've still got one daughter at home with me full-time, I just don't get many opportunities to enjoy a centering, peaceful walk anymore. And I use that as an excuse despite the fact that I have a dusty, but perfectly functional elliptical trainer sitting in the playroom and a bike trailer/stroller thingy, complete with cup and snack holders, that can easily accommodate both girls.

Excuses are too convenient and too easily kill our enthusiasm for anything requiring self-discipline. I've got a little postcard in front of me here at the computer that says, "A resolution is only a resolution if you're determined to work hard. Without the hard work, it's just plain old wishful thinking"

Let's you and I quit wishful thinking about exercise this week and JUST.DO.IT!!!

I made a pact with another woman from my other weigh-in site to 'just get out the door' at least twice this week. I'll do that with you too. Just twice. We can do this!!!!

Forget about that two pound gain, it's history! You are doing right and that's what's important. As you go through this there will be ups and downs and that's what teaches us what we need to know to keep the weight off. Without the time I have spent losing this weight, I would not have learned as much about myself as I have. Sometimes it feels like forever, but then I realize -- it is forever. At least, from this point forward into forever, I am not going back.

I agree with Jan B. Forget about the 2 lbs gained just focus on the pounds lost. Congrats on the weight loss btw.

I agree, just focus on the fact that you are moving in the right direction. Its better to walk in circles some of the time than to go off the path completely.
